The Minister of State for Fisheries also Serere District Woman Member of Parliament has upped her game in promoting University Education for her constituents hailing from Serere District.
Hellen Adoa, known for her passion for education has now in collaboration with Uganda Christian University offered 10 scholarships to students wishing to pursue University Education at UCU.
Speaking to this reporter on Saturday, 20th July, 2024 on phone, Adoa reveals that whereas she has been sponsoring 5 students every Academic year at UCU, the number has risen to 10 this Academic year.
She says the offer is strictly to students who hail from Serere District and their applications for the scholarship have to be endorsed by the area NRM Village Chairpersons.
She says this is on top of the bursaries she gives to all PLE candidates who pass in Grade One at her various Halycon Campuses spread across Serere and Soroti districts.
“Also every UPE PLE Child that gets 1st grade comes to study in my schools for O’ Level on free tuition. I do this every year for many years now but only for Serere District residents,” says Adoa.
The deadline for applications for UCU Scholarships is 31st July, 2024. The applications are supposed to be hand delivered to the MPs office at Halycon High School, Serere Campus.
