Peace Khalayi Simiyu, daughter of Sam Simiyu, the managing director of African Construction Limited Company has officially declared her interest to take over the Namisindwa District Woman Member of Parliament Seat in 2026.

Sam Simiyu is one of the renowned tycoons and contractors in Bugisu and Eastern region at large usually winning contracts of constructing big government projects like schools, health centers, bridges, roads among others.

Namisindwa district woman MP seat is currently being occupied with Sarah Netalisile who declared in the media recently that she is not going to bounce back in contestation for the position over unknown reasons.

While speaking to hundreds of her sub county coordinators on Friday, 19th July, 2024 at Tsekululu sub county head office, Khalayi sais that currently Namisindwa district is facing lots of challenges like poor education standards, lack of clean water, lack of power supplies to rural areas,  poor lobbying of projects especially to women among others because the current Woman Member of Parliament has deliberately refused to fulfill her obligations since she is aware of not coming back.

Khalayi says that she wants to transform the current Namisindwa to new one in terms of development if elected.

Other people who are planning to contest in the same position are Dorothy Nebokhe Walukawu, the Namisindwa district speaker, Dr. Sarah Khanakwa working with state house, Lydia Nabwire a journalist working with vision group and Grace Namukhula the current Namisindwa district public service chairperson also doubling as former first Woman Member of Parliament representing Namisindwa district.
