The joint security forces have arrested three prime suspects for illegal possession of firearms, connection to recent robberies and murder of innocent civilians in Kaabong and Kotido districts in Karamoja Sub region.
According to Major Isaac Oware, the Public Information Officer, 3 Division –UPDF, the suspects who were arrested on Wednesday, 24th July 2024 are Aleu Lomeri, a resident of Kaitach village, Kachem Chem Parish in Kalapata Town council, Kaabong district, Komol Longole, resident of resident of Moruedikae village/Parish in Kalapata Town council and Lukwakori Bosco, a resident of Mamulope Village, Losilang Parish, North Division, Kotido Municipality.
He says that the trio was part of the gang that on 16th July, 2024 that waylaid civilians along Kamion-Nawontosi road in Kaabong district and robbed an unspecified amount of money and property.
The criminals have been terrorizing people in areas of Kamioni, Timu and Kalapata in Kaabong district and also masterminded the abduction of one Lowol Joseph Nalapa who went missing until 24th July 2024 when his decomposed body was recovered by security detectives in the wilderness in Kaabong district.
Lukwakori Bosco was arrested with a firearm number 1515 with 3 live rounds of ammunition.
“Once investigations are complete, the trio will face trials on illegal possession of firearms, murder and robbery among other counts in courts of law,” says Oware.
The trio is in custody at 3 Division headquarters, Moroto army barracks for further investigation and possible prosecution.
