NAMISINDWA: Speeding Truck Knocks 4 Ugandans Dead at Lwakhakha Border

Four people at Lwakhakha Uganda-Kenya border in Namisindwa district died on the spot after being knocked by a speeding Kenyan Truck registration number KDB 124E Scania belonging to Greenline Company limited of Kenya.

 

According to Rogers Taitika, the Elgon region police spokesperson, the deceased are Derick Masika 33 years of age, Suzan Watsemwa aged 46, Beatrice Nabalayo and one unidentified person, all residents of Namisindwa district.

 

He says the accident happened on the evening of Thursday, 5th December, 2024 at Lwakhakha Uganda-Kenya border, Lwakhakha town council in Namisindwa district along Mbale- Lwakhakha Highway.

 

Taitika adds that the four people who were knocked dead were on a Boda Boda motorcycle number UGC 342R Bajaj boxer red in colour coming from the neighboring Manafwa district side heading to Lwakhakha border.

 

He says that the speeding Kenyan truck that was from Kenya side heading to Manafwa district side rammed into the Boda Boda motorcycle.

 

He says that the cause of the accident is over speeding and reckless driving by the Kenyan truck driver.

 

By press time, the vehicle and motorcycle had been impounded and parked at Lwakhakha super custom police station but bodies of the deceased were taken to Mbale city mortuary for postmortem.
