Police has in an intelligence led operation recovered six (6) stolen cars from a private garage in Wampewo Village, Kasangati Town Council, Kampala City.
According to a police statement dated Wednesday, December 11, 2024, the intelligence led operation that took place on Tuesday, 10th December targeted a one Byekwaso Martin.
Police says that Byekwaso was for some time suspected to be stealing vehicles from within Kampala metropolitan.
Police stormed his car garage in Kasangati Town Council and recovered a number of vehicles as well as number plates.
The Six (06) vehicles which were recovered are; UBH145F Toyota wish grey in color stolen from Kirudu, UAV 370G Toyota Noah green in color suspected to have been stolen from Natete, and UAL 630A mark 2 white in color stolen from old Kampala.
Others are; UAX 793E Toyota Noah grey in color, Numberless, Toyota “kibina” white in color and another Numberless Toyota fielder black in color.
Byekwaso had just left the garage however police managed to arrest a mechanic by the names of Kagenda Joshua (30) a resident of Mpelerwe, in connection with the same case.
16 number plates were also recovered from the same garage.
Most of these vehicles were found to have broken locks and starter switches an indicator that they were broken into during the process of stealing them.
