As a way to strengthen the national resistance movement (NRM) party in Butaleja district, the district council on Wednesday, 18th December, 2024 passed a resolution of donating land to the party to construct head offices.
The council meeting was held in the district’s health boardroom, chaired by Joseph Pulisi Habaya, the deputy speaker of the district.
Michael Higenyi Bore, the district LCV chairperson, championed the donation of the land worth 100 by 50 metre piece of land for NRM party to construct its permanent office in Butaleja district.
He says that the party has been paying 800,000/= monthly as rent for the house they have been operating from.
Higenyi says that if they construct the office, they can now divert that money to other party activities.
Issa Walugo, the district NRM Chairperson expressed his joy with the land saying constructions are soon going to start.
Walugo, further revealed that they reached a when they failed to pay rent and arrears accumulated to Shs3M which compelled their landlord to confiscate some of the party’s computers,
