The territorial police in Njeru, Buikwe District, are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the suspected arson in the Mehta Sugarcane plantations. The incident occurred in Bulumaji, Najembe, Buikwe District.
According to SP Hellen Butoto, it is alleged that on January 1, 2025, around 00:40 AM, a fire broke out in the Mehta plantation in Bulumaji village, Kitigoma Najembe, Buikwe District. The fire was set by unknown assailants at three spots in the middle and on two sides of the road.
The police and the Mehta team worked together to contain the fire, preventing it from spreading to nearby plantations. However, efforts are ongoing to apprehend the culprits as investigations continue.
