The Ministry of Works and Transport has today, Monday, 6th January, 2025 rolled out the third phase of the Digital registration Number Plates.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry today, 6th January, 2025, this 3rd phase is for Vehicles entering the country for first-time registration.
These vehicles will be registered at Malaba Border Entry Point and Mutukula Border Entry Point.
Meanwhile, the cost of Digital Registration Plate is Shs714,300.
HOW TO APPLY FOR FIRST REGISTRATION:
Category one is those that clear taxes at the points of entry of Mombasa or Dar salaam (DIRECT IM4). This category has the privilege of entering the country with a vehicle fitted with a digital registration plate along with a log book in hand. All one needs to do is to log onto the booking system immediately after your taxes are cleared. ( portal@itms_ug.com) after clearing taxes
Category two is of those who bring in the vehicles to bonded warehouses and thereafter clear taxes. (FROM IM7 REGIME).
After clearing taxes and all assessments are done on the URA Uganda Portal, including those done by Motor vehicle registration of MoWTUganda, the client will go to portal@itms-ug.com , and make a booking for the #DigitalRegistrationPlates
After confirmation, the client will choose which location and time for fitment of the registration plate. And the service will be brought to you.
