Police in Bukedea Central Police Station in Bukedea District are investigating circumstances under which a 65 year old woman was murdered by unknown thugs.
The incident took place last night at Omuria-akere cell in Kongunga town council.
The deceased was identified as Rukia Amuge, a businesswoman and resident of the above village.
Damalie Nachuha, The East Kyoga Regional Police Commander confirmed this saying the body of the deceased was conveyed to Bukedea Health Center IV for post mortem.
It’s alleged that on 06/1/2025 at around 0630/c, one Amoding Ann Lilian who is a close neighbour to the deceased was concerned why her neighbour was not coming out of the house in order to start preparing food for her restaurant yet she always wakes up early.
Immediately, Amoding went and knocked at her door, but there was no response.
Amoding therefore opened the door from outside and found the deceased in a pool of blood lying on a papyrus mat.
She made an alarm that attracted other people from the trading centre and thereafter, the matter was reported at Kachumbala police station by the chairperson LC1.
“The deceased was found in a pool of blood with a deep cut on the neck and on the right cheek”, said Damalie.
The scene was visited, examined and documented by police officers.
The killer weapon to wit a knife with a light blue handle and some suspected blood stains on it was recovered from the scene
The canine was introduced to the scene, picked the scent, and tracked for a distance of about a kilometre where it lost track. The search for the suspects is on.
