Health workers at Buyinja Health Centre IV in Namayingo Town Council are fighting to save the lives of a mother and her two biological children after a poisoning incident.

The locals identified the mother as Nandera Beatrice 22yrs residing in her rental room on Aunt Lucy’s house in Namayingo town council. It’s said that her husband Mr Bwire Brian left her in the room with the children and went for work in Kenya. The community residents say it may be due to stress since the husband has been mistreating her since he went to Kenya for work.

On the evening of January 6, 2025, Nandera locked herself in the room with her two children, Nandera Noweri, 4, and Wandera Emmanuel, 2, and gave them porridge mixed with poison. Neighbours heard the children coughing and crying, prompting them to break down the locked door.

It is said the Neighbours heard the children coughing, crying and this prompted them to break the locked door.

Dr. Akori Jonan, a nursing officer at Buyinja Health Centre IV says they received the mother and children in very critical conditions and unconscious and they gathered up in emergency unit to save them since they aspilated the liver and they are on oxygen of high volume since they are very ill.

Boda boda rider identified as Robert who was called to rush the victims to the hospital explains that he took them to Buyinja Health Centre IV because if they had delayed, they would have died.

Kwagala Sumaya, a concerned mother, condemned the incident, blaming the mother for her actions. However, she suggested that the mother should have sought guidance from local leaders instead.
