A 22 year old man and resident of Otucho village, Dakabella Parish, Arapai Sub County in Soroti district has committed suicide by hanging after a case of defilement was opened against him.
Elasu Francis took his own life on Wednesday, 8th January, 2025 in the same village at a time unknown to police.
According to Damalie Nachuha, the East Kyoga Regional Police Commander, the deceased was reported to Odudui police station by a one Okiror Silver accusing him of defiling his 17 year old daughter, Ideu Judith.
Nachuha says the suspect after getting information that he had been reported to police over defilement, picked a nylon rope, proceeded into the bush, and committed suicide by hanging.
She says the body was found hanging on a dry tree by his brother.
“The scene of crime was visited by D/CID, D/ASP OJOK RICHARD TOM, SOCO and a team of Detectives and uniform personnel”, said Nachuha.
Meanwhile, the body was conveyed to Nakatunya City mortuary pending postmortem.
