A casual worker and his accomplices has been arrested by the Kiira regional police for the murder of a one Swaibu Katongole that occurred on December 10, 2024 in Jinja city.
According to SP Mubi James, Police Spokesperson, Kiira region, the main suspect, Sedrick Lukwago 21 was working as causal worker at the deceased’s home.
The accomplices who have been arrested are Robert Kyagulanyi 23, Denis Ssempebwa 19 who were employed by Katongole’s wife at their restaurant business located along main street Jinja City and Emmanuel Lukwago, the prime suspect’s brother. The fourth suspect is Bernard Mukasa a boda boda rider.
According to Mubi, advanced technology in forensics places all the five suspects at the scene of crime – in this case, unlawful murder of Swaibu Katongole.
Swaibu Katongole was killed on December 10, 2024 at his home situated along Lubogo road in Jinja city.
The suspect confessed having killed his boss on the fateful day using a piece of cloth and sharp stick.
Mubi says upon arrival at the gate, the culprits intercepted Katongole at the main entrance, allegedly tied a piece of cloth around his neck and hit him hard on his head causing his death instantly.
However According to him, the guilt burden kept on disturbing him in his hideout in Lugazi municipality, Buikwe district. Later on he relocated to Nakaseke district and started working as store man at Abubeker technical services that deals in stone quarrying activities. At this very stone quarry, his brother Emmanuel Lukwago and their father were already working at the very site.
Sedrick Lukwago purportedly handed over exhibits of evidential value to his brother Emmanuel Lukwago to take them to their mother in Sironko district. Kiira regional police intelligence team and detectives proceeded to recover the said items that were picked at the scene by the prime suspect.
Prior to the murder of Katongole, uncontrolled bitter quarrels erupted between the deceased and the prime suspect.
Sedrick Lukwago accused the deceased of having influenced the decision of his wife to terminate his services since he was working as causal worker at the deceased’s home. He was allegedly sacked due to incompetence, indiscipline and failing to demonstrate signs of remorsefulness, threatening to deal with Katongole by all means.
