Sironko district leaders have asked the Chief Administrative Officer to interdict Andrew Wasukila, the district engineer over the poor state of roads in the district.

They made this resolution on Saturday, 11th January, 2025 during a meeting held at Sironko district head offices after concluding four days of roads’ inspection.

During the meeting, Nathan Nandala Mafabi area Member of Parliament representing Budadiri West constituency who led the inspection tour in the entire district, expressed his bitterness with the district engineer for not utilizing the Shs1 billion road fund that was allocated to the district for financial year 2023/24 well.

Nandala says that the Shs1billion allocated to the district worked on less than 6% of roads yet the district records indicate that all identified works are complete.

Sasaga Isaiah Wanzira, Member of Parliament representing Budadiri East constituency says they have given the CAO a few days to come up with a report about the unfinished work then they see how to punish the engineer.

Ali Madoi, councilor representing Buyobo Sub County says councilors are not aware of the unfinished road projects because the district failed to give them vehicle to go to the field to inspect roads.

He accused the district leadership of being behind this mess adding that as councilors they were ready to see this problem before the end of financial year of 2023/24.

Madoi asked the CAO to expedite the process of punishing the district engineer such that other district technocrats can learn from his experience.

However, Nelson Kiranda the Sironko district chief administrative officer promised to put in action the resolution after investigations.

Meanwhile, Andrew Wasukila attributed the delay in finishing road works to two factors. He says the first factor is that he was pushed out of office for about four months from March to June.

Secondly, he says the Ministry of Works wrote a letter to all district local governments across the country restricting them from using one billion shillings due to heavy downpour.

He laughed at leaders who resolved that the CAO must interdict him saying the CAO is not ignorant about how Interdiction is done.
