Management of Entebbe Municipal Council has offered three months tax waiver to market vendors who were allocated lockups in the newly constructed Kitooro taxi Park, which will soon be reopened officially.
This was revealed by the Municipal Principal Commercial Officer, Stephen Mulindwa while addressing stakeholders on January 16, 2025 at a meeting held in the newly constructed Kitooro Taxi Park.
Mr. Mulindwa informed market vendors that though council has offered them a grace period of three months without paying taxes, each vendor is required to pay Shs.150,000 to cater for water and electricity bills among other things.
He apologized to market vendors for the delay to reopen the Taxi Park attributing it to delayed installation of yaka meters, and payment of the contractor.
He urged vendors to exercise high level of discipline adding that no vendor shall be allowed to park inside the Taxi Park on grounds that the available space is only for taxis and special hire cars.
He added that vendors off-loading commodities shall be given only 20 minutes to do so and beyond this time will attract a fine or surcharge.
