BUDUDA
The Government of Uganda, through the Ministry of Education and Sports, has allocated Shs2.4 billion to Bududa District Local Government for the construction of Bushiribo Seed Secondary School in Bushiribo Sub County.
This was revealed by Milton Kamoti Wasunguyi, the LCV Chairperson of Bududa District, in an exclusive interview on Wednesday, 22nd January, 2025.
According to Kamoti, the funds are already available in the district account, and construction work is ongoing at the site.
He expressed confidence that the project will be completed within the current financial year.
In the previous financial year (2023/24), Bududa District received 3.6 billion shillings to construct Nakatsi Seed Secondary School. The construction work has been completed, and the school is awaiting official launch.
Residents have welcomed the new school, citing challenges faced by students, particularly girls, who had to travel over 5 kilometers to access secondary education at Bududa Secondary School and Bulucheke Secondary School.
Paulo Wakhata, a resident of Bushiribo, expressed his happiness with the new school, stating that it will improve access to education for local students.
Sarah Nabutsale, another resident, urged government to establish more seed schools in the district, noting that Bududa has fewer secondary schools compared to other districts in the Bugisu region, which has affected education standards.
Currently, Bududa District has only ten government secondary schools.
