Gov’t Reveals Revenue Collected From Kampala-Entebbe Express Way

The Ministry of Works and Transport has revealed that Uganda’s First Toll Road, the Kampala-Entebbe Express Way has collected UGX 119.8 billion over a 3 year tolling period.

 

In a press statement issued today, Thursday, 23rd January, 2025, Ministry of Transports says the Expressway now serves an average of 28,000 vehicles daily with over 4,570 motorists benefiting from the convenience of the Upesi Electronic Smart Cards.

 

About, 25.3 million passages have been recorded over the past 3 years providing smoother, safer and more convenient journeys.

 

The Ministry also boasts of government’s efforts together with other Road Safety stakeholders that have helped reduce accidents from 21 crashes a month in the first year to now 9 crashes a month.

 

Funded by Exim Bank of China and the Government of Uganda, the project commenced on 19th November 2012 and was expected to be complete by 18th November 2017, but this was revised to 16th November 2018, and again revised to 25th July 2019.
