MBALE CITY
Mbale City has relocated its Law enforcement officers from the Mbale City Magistrate Court premises to the Mbale City head office.
This website has learnt that the relocation aims to address public concerns about threats and extortion by the officers. Previously, the officers were based at the City Magistrate Court (formerly Municipal Court) but councilors raised concerns that this was not ideal, as it made it difficult to monitor their activities.
In a council meeting last December, a resolution was passed to relocate the enforcement officers to the city head office, enabling better supervision by their superiors.
Asumin Nasike, the Mbale Resident City Commissioner, today Tuesday, 28th January, 2025 confirmed that the relocation is part of the city’s efforts to implement the council resolution.
Kakai Khariate, the Mbale City Deputy Mayor, urged the public to report any instances of extortion or threats by the enforcement officers.
She emphasized that anyone committing a crime should be arrested and taken to court, rather than being threatened or forced to pay money.
