ENTEBBE

Court in Entebbe presided by Grade one Magistrate Edgar Tibayeita Tumusiime on February 14 ,2025 charged eight suspects over malicious damage to property, forcible entry and theft among other charges.

The accused persons who were paraded before court include Alex Sserungaya Mukisa, Peter Kajubi, Henry Ddungu, Ramathan Nnaku, Godfrey Kaweesi, Robert Ngesa, Asuman Mukiibi, Joseph Mugweri plus others still at large.

The accused persons were arrested by State House Anti-Corruption Unit in collaboration with Entebbe Police and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

While in the court dock, the accused persons denied any wrong doing and the presiding magistrate adjourned the matter to February 28, 2025.

Prosecution told court that on January 21, 2025, the accused persons armed with pangas unlawfully trespassed on a chunk of land measuring 68 acres, on Block 428, Plot 192 (formerly Plot 22) located in Bukasa-Bugiri village, Katabi Town Council, Wakiso District, belonging to Professor Eleanor Maxine Ankrah, and destroyed 18 acres of trees, crops, and maliciously damaged property on the land.

It’s alleged that the accused persons acted on the instructions of the alleged bibanja owners, including William Lutaaya, Winfred Nnalongo Kaita Bakumba, Edward Kalenzo, Anthony Osowa, and Robert Kayigwa.

These alleged bibanja holders previously had entered a consent agreement in the High Court-which stipulated that the complainant would identify the 18 acres to be shared among the bibanja holders.

However between February 8-9, 2025, before the complainant could show the bibanja holders their designated portions, the same group led by Aaron Ssebagula, an ex- convict over land grabbing forcibly enroached on the land cut destroyed crops on top of cutting down trees which they sold to unknown people.

Later State House Anti-Corruption Unit and Entebbe Police swung into action and arrested some of the goons.

Meanwhile, police have started hunting down Aaron Ssebagula and his associates currently on run and if apprehended will face the wrath of the Law.
