NAMISINDWA: Three Brothers On Run After Beating Up LC1 Chairman

Three family members from Bukibeti Wakayiya village in Namisindwa district are currently on the run after allegedly assaulting and injuring Bernard Kalyamonga, the LCI chairperson of Wakayiya village.

 

The suspects, identified as Elia Wetekhela, 27, Moses Wetekhela, 22, and Noah Wetekhela, 24, are accused of attacking Kalyamonga after he attempted to prevent them from engaging in criminal activities, such as theft, following complaints from local residents. Breaking his arm in the process.

 

During a security meeting held at Magale sub-county today Saturday, 15th February, 2025, area leaders, including LCIII Chairperson Paulo Wasolo and Assistant Resident District Commissioner Bosco Nabongo, condemned the actions of the three suspects. Kalyamonga reported that the trio attacked him after he tried to restrict their involvement in crime.

 

The authorities are currently searching for the suspects, and their father, Fred Wetekhela, has expressed willingness to assist in their arrest, citing concerns about their behavior becoming a security threat in the area.

 

Wetekhela revealed that he had previously taken his sons to the police for detention due to their involvement in crimes and threats against his life, but they were released under unclear circumstances.

 

The Assistant RDC Nabongo is urging locals and leaders to collaborate in searching for the suspects to ensure they face charges for assaulting and injuring the LCI chairperson.
