In what was a stunning move, NBS News anchor, Zambaali Bulasio Mukasa on Tuesday, 4th March, 2025 publicly threw his weight behind Kyagulanyi Robert, a.k.a Bobi Wine.
Mukasa, who seeks to run under the National Unity Platform (NUP) ticket for the Nansana Municipality MP Seat in the upcoming elections, made his announcement during a rally in Kawempe, where he joined NUP party president Robert Kyagulanyi, a.k.a Bobi Wine, in mobilizing support for Elias Nalukoola in the Kawempe North by-election. The by-election follows the passing of former MP Muhammad Ssegirinya.
Mukasa, known for his news anchoring cited Desmond Tutu’s powerful words: “If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor.
Mukasa’s daring declaration has sent shockwaves through Uganda’s media landscape! By openly endorsing Bobi Wine, Mukasa has challenged the traditional norms of journalistic ‘neutrality’.
With his entry into the race, Mukasa will have to compete for the NUP ticket against singer Big Eye Starboss, who has also expressed interest in the position.
If successful, he will face off against the current MP, Wakayima Musoke, in what promises to be a heated political contest.
As the race for the Nansana Municipality seat gains momentum, all eyes will be on how the NUP primaries unfold and whether Mukasa can secure the party’s endorsement for his political ambitions.
