MBALE CITY
Police are have arrested a 41 year old man in connection to the gang-rape and murder of 30-year-old Lukia Ahamadah, a resident of Namunsi in Northern City Division, Mbale City on Friday last week.
The suspect only identified as Peter and was arrested on Wednesday, 5th March, 2025, was reportedly the boyfriend of the deceased, a resident of Namatala Ward in Mbale City. Several other individuals involved in the crime are still on the run and have yet to be identified by police.
The body of the victim was discovered by locals in Namatala Ward.
According to Hamuza Banja, the Deputy Mbale Resident City Commissioner for Industrial City Division, the perpetrators first raped the victim before murdering her.
The body was taken to the Mbale City Mortuary for a postmortem examination and was later released to the family for burial on Saturday last week.
Banja says that the suspect will be taken to court to answer charges of murder, as police continue to search for the other individuals involved in the crime.
