BREAKING! Gov’t Launches Migrant Workers Support Centre

The Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development has today, Friday, 28th March, 2025 launched the Migrant Workers Support Centre—a one-stop hub offering support to migrant workers.

 

This initiative is in partnership with International Organization for Migration, (IOM).

 

Speaking at the launch, the Minister of State for Labour, Esther Anyakun said, the center will support not only migrant workers but also returnees, helping them reintegrate smoothly into society.

 

“The Centre will be there to guide and to support individuals and families at every step of their labour migration journey. It will also serve as a symbol of inclusivity, respect and opportunity,” says Anyakun.

 

“It will also serve as a vital resource for families, enabling them to track their loved ones’ movements and well-being while abroad,” added the Undersecretary Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Dev’t.

 

IOM, a partner in the launching of the centre gave a number of items in donation, to support the operations of the centre. These were handed over by the IOM chief of mission.

 

The services offered by the centre include; Information on Pre-Employment, Pre-Departure, Post Arrival & Return.

 

Others are; Provision of Legal Assistance, Financial Literacy, Skills & career development, Emergency & Crisis support and Labour Market Information.
