Electricity Regulatory Authority (ERA) has announced new electricity tariffs for the period 1st April to June 2025.
In a statement shared on X today, Monday, 31st March, 2025, ERA sets tariffs for domestic users with Lifeline (First 15 Units) at Shs250, Cooking tariff (Units between 81 โ 150) at Shs412.
Lifeline tariff applies to domestic users whose monthly rolling consumption does not exceed 100 Units for the last six months.
Energy Units between 15-80 and above 150 now go at Shs756. This is a reduction from Shs775.7 that was charged in the previous quarter that span from January to March, 2025.
Meanwhile, the new tariffsย ๐๐จ๐ซ ๐๐ฑ๐ญ๐ซ๐-๐๐๐ซ๐ ๐ ๐๐ง๐๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ซ๐ข๐๐ฅ ๐๐จ๐ง๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ฆ๐๐ซ๐ฌ ๐๐๐๐๐๐ญ๐ข๐ฏ๐ ๐๐ฌ๐ญ ๐๐ฉ๐ซ๐ข๐ฅ – ๐๐๐ญ๐ก ๐๐ฎ๐ง๐ ๐๐๐๐ are as follows; Average Shs203.6, Peak, 299.1, Shoulder Shs203.6 and Off peak Shs184.6.
Commercial consumers will now be paying Shs546.4 for Average, Peak Shs650.8, Shoulder Shs546.4 and Shs414.0 for off peak periods.
The new tariffs for Large consumers (High voltage consumers between 11,000 to 33,000 volts) will be paying Shs 348.7 for Average, Shs420.5 Peak, Shs348.7 Shoulder and Shs 278.2 Off peak.
The reduction coincides with the transfer of electricity distribution systems to UEDCL by UMEME which took place on Monday, 31st March, 2025.
