Panic engulfed Suula village residents, Kocheka Sub County in Bukedea district on 31st, March 2025 as a 33 year old man committed suicide in his uncle’s room.

The deceased has been identified as Joseph Osuban, a resident of Kanyimu Town Council in Kumi District.

Simon Opiri, the deceased uncle narrates that the deceased was set to travel to Serere but unfortunately he was discovered dead.

“My cousin came home saying that my sister who’s his mother wants to talk to me through a cell phone of which we talked and she asked me to get the deceased a taxi that goes up to Serere, when I was preparing to wait for the taxi, the late disappeared, looking around we found him hanging inside my room”, said Opiri.

Justin Tukei, the Itekok Itararam Clan Chairperson in Kanyimu Town Council says it’s suspected that the deceased had issues with his girlfriend in Kabelebyong District.

“We had a rumor that the deceased had a girlfriend in Kabelebyong, so we have failed to understand whether they had issues and it’s the reason why he came back to this side,” said Mr. Tukei.

Michael Oloko Nyakoi clan chairperson condemned the act saying the late used a piece of cloth for hanging himself.

However, the police visited the scene of crime and the body of the deceased was transported to Kanyimu Town Council for burial.
