A gruesome discovery was made in Nabumali Town Council, Mbale District, on the morning of April 3, 2025, when the body of a local resident was found dumped near Nabumali Bible College Chapel.
The deceased has been identified as David Washume, a 38-year-old resident of Manga Cell, Mungoma Ward, Nabumali Town Council in Mbale district.
According to Moses Kutoyi, the LCIII Chairperson of Nabumali Town Council, Washume is believed to have encountered suspected thugs at around 2:00 am on April 3, while returning home from a drinking joint.
He says the body was found by locals with stab wounds, including a knife wound to the chest.
Kutoyi described the area as generally secure, adding that Washume was a well-respected member of the community. The body has been taken to Mbale City Mortuary for a postmortem examination.
Suzan Nambuya, a relative of the deceased, urged the police to thoroughly investigate the murder and bring those responsible to justice.
Rogers Taitika, the Elgon Region Police Spokesperson, promised to provide more information after gathering details from the Mbale District Police Commander.
