A shocking incident occurred in Namabya Sub-county, Namisindwa district, on Wednesday, April 3, 2025, leaving two people dead.

The violence began when three youths, identified as Derrick Mujasi, 30, Sam Busiku, 25 years from Namabya Sub County, and Wasolo aged 30 from neighboring Manafwa district, allegedly murdered a person known only as Sam from Bumityelo sub-county in Namisindwa district

According to John Buyinda, LC1 chairperson of Bulako village, the incident happened during a funeral service for Godfrey Maleme, where a dance attracted youths from neighboring sub-counties. The three youths allegedly targeted Sam after seeing him with money, taking him to a hidden area where they stabbed him to death.

The Namabya Sub county LC3 Chairperson, James Nakhaima Brazil says when they took him to a dark hidden place, they stabbed with a knife in the chest which led to his death. The killers later brought two bunches of bananas and put next to his body to distort the evidence.

Nakhaima also adds that they alerted police that brought a sniffer dog which led them to the homes of the three but got when two had escaped.

The LCIII Chairperson says they only got Wasolo of Manafwa who had a blood stained panga. This angered the residents who descended on the suspect overpowering police and lynched him on spot.

He condemned the incident adding that the two bodies were taken to Mbale city mortuary by police for postmortem.

By press time, efforts to reach Rogers Taitika, the Elgon region police spokesperson, were unsuccessful, as his calls went unanswered. The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, highlighting concerns about mob justice and the need for effective law enforcement.
