PALLISA
Government has today, Thursday, 10th April, 2025 commissioned Saaka bridge located along the Pallisa – Kaliro Road.

The bridge was constructed by Arab Contractors completing the construction 11 months ahead of schedule.
The bridge that goes through the River Mpologoma swamp was reconstructed following President Museveni’s directive after it had become a death trap for area motorists/residents. In 2024, 28 people lost their lives at the bridge after River Mpologoma flooded.
According to the Ministry of Works and Transport, in order to complement the Saaka bridge development, government through the National Roads Development and maintenance programme (NRDMP), selected town roads (7.5km) in Pallisa and (12.2km) in Kumi which were upgraded from gravel to bituminous standard.
The project consists of a road passing through a dense swamp with a length of 4.5 km and a bridge crossing the Mpologoma River . The project also includes 10 other industrial works.
