A section of traders operating along Park Lane Road in Tororo Municipality, have expressed anger after they woke up and found two big containers occupying space where they were operating their businesses.

The containers were placed on the night of 15th April,2025, and these displaced many traders who now have no space to do their business.

Boniface Owino, the chairperson of boda boda riders of umbrella shell stage in Tororo municipality wonders why they have been displaced by cutting down the umbrella tree where they used to operate from, just to create room for the big containers.

He says this is not fair to them.

Hajjat Halima Nanyanzi, the woman councilor representing central Parish, says she was surprised seeing the containers and wonders who authorized the person who actually placed the containers at the stage.

“The big containers were put, I see the containers, but I don’t know the owner.” She lamented.

Meanwhile, following these complaints, Tororo Municipal council called for a meeting in which they resolved to have these containers removed.

Kenneth Orono, the Mayor Tororo municipality says traders must obey and respect the road reserves put in place, saying they are meant to be used by pedestrians and not for business like some of them have been doing.

He also denied being a part or involved in displacing the traders using these containers and identifies the owner of the containers as Robert Mulunga.
