MBALE
A single serious accident occurred on April 23, 2025, at 10:30AM along the Mbale-Tirinyi Road in Budaka District, involving a Toyota Alphard vehicle (UAZ 751Q).
According to Wilfred Kyapasa, the Bukedi North region acting police spokesperson, the vehicle carrying seven passengers, was traveling from Mbale to Tirinyi when the driver, who is still at large, lost control while attempting to overtake a Hilux pickup near Vambeko. The vehicle rammed into buildings on the right side of the road.
He named victims as Sharon Acam, 28, a resident of Kampala, Alphard Nandudu a resident of Sironko, an unidentified 9-year-old female, Rajsb Kalule, a resident of Mbale City, then others who remain unidentified.
He says the police responded promptly, and a team led by Immaculate Akite visited and documented the scene.
By press time, the victims had been rushed to Budaka Health Centre IV, where they are currently receiving treatment but in critical conditions after getting fractures.
Police says the vehicle has been towed to the Budaka Police yard pending inspection.
