MBALE CITY
As the 2026 general election moves closer, Mbale City Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party leaders are preparing to fill the positions left vacant by four members who defected to the National Unity Platform (NUP) earlier this month.
The defectors include Masa Musa, the party Secretary for the Elderly in Industrial Division, Zandya Mutwalibu, the former Mayor of Mbale Municipality, Muhamed Fozi, and Backeri.
The four members defected during a NUP consultative meeting held at St. Andrews Cathedral Church, chaired by Robert Kyalulanyi, the NUP president.
Sezi Mafabi, the FDC Chairperson for Mbale City, stated during a press conference today Thursday, 24th April, 2025 that the party does not regret the loss of the four members, describing them as rebels who had been at odds with party leaders.
Mafabi added that the party had been planning to sack them due to their internal conflicts.
Badru Nabende, the FDC party administrator, announced that the party had initially planned to fill the vacant positions this weekend but has postponed the process to a later date due to unforeseen circumstances.
Nabende emphasized that while Masa Musa and others have the right to join any party, FDC remains strong and solid in Mbale City.
