A fatal road accident that occurred today, 7th May, 2025 at around 5:30am at Igogero swamp on the Tororo – Iganga Highway has claimed lives of five people.
The involved a Toyota Hiace ‘Drone’ UBR 385J and a trailer UBB 838H pulling a trailer UAD 390J.
4 survivors (1 female & 3 males) were rushed to Bugiri hospital while the bodies were taken to the Bugiri hospital mortuary.
According to the Busoga East Police Spokesperson, SP Michael Kafayo, preliminary reports indicate that both vehicles were moving in the same direction towards Iganga but upon reaching Igogero swamp, the drone driver tried to overtake the trailer but when he realized that another vehicle was coming from the opposite direction, he swerved back to his lane and ended up knocking the trailer from behind!
The drone driver is among the 5 people who died on spot meanwhile, the trailer driver drove to Police and reported the incident.
