Mayuge Head Teacher Sentenced to 18 Months in Prison over Embezzlement

The head teacher of Nakazigo Primary School in Mayuge district has been sentenced to 18 months in Luzira Prisons and barred from holding a Public Office for 10 years.

 

Court presided over by His Worship Christopher Opit convicted Ramadhan Ngobi, aged 58 on two counts of embezzlement and abuse of office today, Friday, May 23, 2025.

 

According to a press statement issued today by the Inspectorate of Government, Ngobi withdrew Shs176M from the school account which was meant for construction of two classrooms and a five stance latrine for the school.

 

Ngobi instead put the money to personal use therefore causing financial loss to the school.

 

He was sentenced to 12 months for embezzlement, 6 months for abuse of office. However, both sentences will be served concurrently. He was also ordered to pay back the Shs176M to the Asset Recovery Account of IGG.
