South Africa’s President, His Excellency President Cyril Ramaphosa has left for the United States of America where he is embarking on a working visit from Monday, 19- 22 May 2025.

According to a statement issued by the Office of the Presidency, Ramaphosa will meet President Donald Trump at the White House in Washington DC to discuss bilateral, regional and global issues of interest.

This visit comes at the heels of strained relationship between the two countries since Donald Trump became President. Trump has for instance slapped sanctions on South Africa accusing it of discriminating against the minority whites including confiscating their land.

The standoff saw the recalling of Ambassadors by the two nations further worsening the diplomatic relations.

Ramaphosa will be trying to mend fences with Donald Trump in order to re-establish Diplomatic and trade relations.
