TORORO
In a significant gesture of support for healthcare in the region, Tororo Woman Member of Parliament, Sarah Achieng Opendi, has donated a state-of-the-art ambulance to Mukujju Health Center IV.
The donation, facilitated by the Ministry of Health, aims to enhance emergency medical response in the area, ensuring that locals receive timely medical assistance.
During a handover ceremony held on Saturday 17th May,2025 at the hospital premises attended by numerous residents, local leaders, and fellow MPs, Opendi emphasized the ambulance’s intended purpose. “This ambulance is for saving lives,” she declared. “It is not to be used for transporting deceased individuals but rather to help those in critical conditions get the urgent care they need.”
The event was marked by gratitude and hope among the community. Local leaders, including the Tororo district LCV Chairperson John Okea and the MP for Tororo County North, Geoffrey Ekanya, voiced their appreciation for the donation, highlighting its potential to improve health outcomes in the region. “This is a vital resource for our health center, and it shows the government’s commitment to enhancing healthcare accessibility,” said the LCV Chairperson.
Residents of Mukujju expressed their joy and relief, recognizing the ambulance as a significant improvement in their healthcare system. “We have long needed this support,” said one enthusiastic local. “Now, when emergencies arise, we can be assured that we have a means to get help quickly.”
The ambulance donation comes at a critical time when many rural health facilities face challenges in providing adequate emergency services. With Opendi’s commitment, Mukujju Health Center IV is now poised to respond more effectively to urgent medical needs.
As the community gathered around the new ambulance, a sense of optimism filled the air. With improved transport for emergency cases, the residents of Mukujju can look forward to a brighter and healthier future.
