Police in Sironko district on Wednesday, 4th June, 2025 arrested a 43-year-old teacher, Simon Epeet, over allegations of aggravated defilement.
Epeet, a teacher at Mpogo Government-Aided Primary School in Bukhalu Sub County, Sironko district, was apprehended following a complaint.
According to Rogers Taitika, the Elgon region police spokesperson, the allegations involve the defilement of a 16-year-old Primary Seven girl.
The minor had been missing from home for a week before returning and revealing that she had been staying with Epeet at his rented house.
The victim allegedly led the parents to his house, where he refused to open the door until the police were called before being arrested.
He was subsequently arrested and taken to Sironko Central Police Station waiting to answer charges of aggravated Defilement.
