A 60-year-old man from Kamuli Municipality is recovering in hospital after allegedly being attacked by his wife, who police say attempted to murder him and mutilate his genitals.
The victim, identified as Masanka Richard, a resident of Busoigo Cell, Kasoigo Ward, Northern Division in Kamuli Municipality, was reportedly attacked while asleep late on Friday night.
According to police, the suspect, a 40-year-old businesswoman identified only as Rehema has been arrested in connection with the incident.
ASP Michael Kasadha, the Busoga North Regional Police Spokesperson, stated that preliminary investigations revealed the incident occurred on the night of June 6, 2025. At around 11:00 PM, Masanka reportedly went to bed, leaving his wife outside. While he was asleep, Rehema allegedly attacked him, attempted to strangle him, and went on to mutilate his genitals, removing one of his testicles.
Kasadha said the victim was initially rushed to Kwagala Medical Centre in Buwenge Mpya before being referred to Kamuli General Hospital for further treatment.
He strongly condemned the act and similar incidents of domestic violence, stating, “We remain committed to ensuring such acts are dealt with expeditiously.”
Kasadha also urged couples experiencing domestic conflicts to seek counseling or pursue legal avenues instead of resorting to violence, which he noted only serves to destroy lives and families.
Police say further investigations are underway to establish the motive behind the attack.
