Police Human Resources Officer at the Wamala region has been arraigned before the Makindye Magistrate’s Court and charged with theft.
SP Begira Avido who appeared before court on Wednesday, 11th June, 2025 is alleged to have stolen with impunity, building materials, including iron sheets, poles, and bags of cement, valued at approximately 17 million shillings from a one Kato Bumali.
According to State House Anti-Corruption Unit that carried out the investigations, Avido, committed the offences on February 10, 2023, at Kanaaba Zone in Makindye Ssabagabo, Wakiso District.
SP Begira had on several occasions been summoned by his superiors to address these allegations against him, but refused, which led to his arrest and subsequent prosecution.
He has been remanded till the 19th June, 2025.
