Police in Namisindwa district have arrested Robert Kabele, the Parish Chief of Namitsa sub-county, over allegations of extorting money from beneficiaries of the Parish Development Model (PDM) program.

The extortion allegedly occurred when Kabele claimed that the money was being taken to the Resident District Commissioner (RDC).

According to Julie Namara, the Namisindwa Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Kabele who was arrested on Wednesday, 18th June, 2025 had been extorting between 100,000/= to 150,000/= from different PDM beneficiaries before allowing them to be registered.

The RDC further alleged that Kabele had been encouraging other parish chiefs in the district to do the same, promising to take the collected money to her office.

Upon learning of the extortion, Namara ordered the police to arrest Kabele over allegations of extortion and maliciously implicating her name.

Addie Richman, the Namisindwa District Police Commander, confirmed the arrest, warning civil servants against engaging in false pretenses to exploit locals.
