KAMPALA
Buganda Road Court in Kampala has sentenced an Orthopedic Doctor formerly with Mulago National Referral Hospital, Dr. Hassan Ssegujja, to more than four years or paying a fine of 4 million shillings for forging medical records for the former Kampala Land Board boss, David Balondemu, as he sought to secure bail from court.
Dr. Hassan Segujja was fined Shs. 4 million on Tuesday, after entering a plea bargain with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), avoiding a custodial sentence of more than four years.
The sentence was delivered by the Chief Magistrate, Ronald Kayizzi while prosecution was led by Chief State Attorney Jonathan Muwaganya.
Before Dr. Ssegujja was sentenced, he pinned David Balondemu for working together with his lawyers to process the false medical reports for the court, enabling him to secure bail.
Later the Chief Magistrate heard cross examination of Dr. Ssegujja by David Balondemu himself after he withdraw the legal services of his lawyer Nola Noris.
The magistrate adjourned the case to 6th August this year to allow David Balondemu produce more witnesses against Dr. Ssegujja in the forgery case.
