NAMISINDWA

Namisindwa district Chairperson, Jackson Wakwaika has rejected the results of yesterday’s National Resistance Movement (NRM) party primary election.

According to the official results, Emma Bwayo won the election with 121,944 votes (61.2%), followed by Wakwaika with 72,957 votes (36.6%), Simiyu P. Watuwa with 567 votes (0.3%), and Situma Mango with 3,693 votes (1.9%). The total number of voters was 199,161.

The official results show a total of 199,161 votes

While speaking to the media at his home located at Lwakhakha town council today Friday, 25th July, 2025, Wakwaika claims the official NRM district register shows about 170,000 voters, which differs from the number of voters who cast ballots.

Wakwaika argues that voter turnout in Namisindwa and Uganda at large was low compared to recent parliamentary elections.

Wakwaika alleges that village registrars filled out declaration forms with numbers of voters of their choice, rather than actual votes cast during lining.

Wakwaika’s declaration Form has a total of 178,606

Wakwaika’s declaration form shows different results, with Wakwaika receiving 66,952 votes (37.4%), Emma Bwayo receiving 107,453 votes (60.1%), Situma Mango receiving 3,692 votes (2.0%),Simiyu Patrick received 509 votes (0.2%)

When contacted, Richard Kikuyi, Namisindwa district NRM Registrar, attributes the discrepancy to a computer error during the initial tallying process.

Kikuyi maintains that Namisindwa NRM district register has about 179,000 registered voters and claims a 90% turnout of yesterday voting.

However, he admitted receiving some allegations that some village registrars filled declaration forms at village level with a number of votes of their candidates of choice but they have not got enough evidence to make conclusions.

Emma Bwayo, the declared winner, has urged losing sides to accept defeat and work together for the development of the NRM party and Namisindwa.

Other candidates in Namisindwa like Dr. Sarah Bwayo Khanakwa, also rejected the results for last week’s district woman NRM parliamentary primary election, citing systematic fraud, bribery, and electoral theft.
