Court in Entebbe presided over by Senior Grade One Magistrate Edgar Tibayeita Tusiime, has sentenced Makerere University student to two months in jail for bad-mouthing the President of Uganda and the Speaker of Parliament Anita Among on his TikToko account.
The convict identified as Elson Tumwine was sentenced to two months in prison on August 4, 2025, over offensive communication against President Museveni and Speaker of Parliament Anita Among.
The convict who initially went missing in Hoima district during his internship placement was convicted on his own plea of guilty.
Prosecution told court that in May last year, Tumwine posted a video on his Tik Tok account alleging that President Museveni apologized to the Baganda community while sidelining other areas in the country. The convict also alleged that the President burnt thousands of people in Teso region and killed and dumped them in a swamp with the aid of Rwandese soldiers.
His worship Tibayeita sentenced Tumwine to a two-month imprisonment arguing he had not wasted court’s time by pleading guilty to the charges.
