The Police at Kabalagala are holding Ssetuba Derrick, a National Unity Platform Party member who had declared interest for Buyaga East MP Seat.
Social media reports had earlier reported that Ssetuba was abducted by gunmen at Lugogo Mall as shared by Frank Kabuye, MP Kassanda South on his x-Account on Sunday, 10th August, 2025.
However, the Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyiere says that Ssetuba was lawfully arrested on allegations of obtaining money by false pretenses from Namara Omuhereza, amounting to Shs8,000,000. Contrary to social media reports that the suspect was abducted, he was lawfully arrested and is currently detained at Kabalagala Police Station.
Two more victims have since come forward after learning of his arrest. The allegations against him will be diligently investigated, and the case file will be forwarded to the Office of the Resident State Attorney (RSA) for perusal and advice.
