EXCLUSIVE: FUFA President Courts Public Anger by Defending Cranes CHAN Hotel

NATIONAL

What was meant to be a public defense of the Kisaasi Paradise Hotel where Cranes players participating in CHAN are staying by Fufa President, has instead attracted more anger from Sports/Cranes fans.

The Hotel, widely believed to be owned by Speaker of Parliament, Rt Hon. Annita Among also wife to the FUFA President, Hon. Magogo Moses Hassim is located in Kisaasi with a dusty road leading to it.

When images of Cranes players surfaced walking back to the Hotel, on a dusty road recently, the public reacted, wondering whether this is 5 Star Hotel that is supposed to host CHAN teams according to CAF standards.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, 20th August, 2025, Magogo, claims the Hotel was cleared by CAF, has a gym of international standards, with a pitch for training (interestingly, still under construction,) arguing that a football hotel is supposed to be customized.

Magogo’s full statement

‘I also want to talk about one of the issues that has also been prevalent in the media, it is about the team hotel. It is true that as a Federation, we have seen some of this feedback from the public. But I want to inform the general public that some of the publications that are being made are false.

A football hotel is customised. It is not a general hotel where you want and whatever you want.

This exclusivity gives us a way of preparing our own food our own way. About the hotel, it has its own gym also custom-made for football.

As we speak right now, this facility, we are also developing the outdoor arena. And if you look through the windows, there’s a pitch which is being developed so that this hotel you can even be able to do a night training.

CAF has to come and look at the amenities and this hotel was approved by CAF. According to the standards of the competition, who is more authoritative? Is it you, the competitor, or CAF?’

REACTIONS

If you’re going to defend a hotel setup, don’t dress it up in buzzwords like “custom-made” and “exclusive.” @FIFAcom doesn’t require “customised hotels”, it requires secure, comfortable, and logistically sound accommodation. That means premium, existing hotels vetted by official partners like MATCH and On Location. Not Frankenstein facilities with half-built pitches and garage gyms.

Cranes CHAN gym that a critic calls garage gym

Claiming “we prepare our own food our own way” isn’t a flex unless you’re running a Michelin-star kitchen. FIFA and @CAF_Online emphasize hygiene and nutrition, not village-style improvisation. Globally, teams work with vetted chefs or coordinate with hotel kitchens, not toss ingredients in a pot and hope for the best.

And “CAF approved the hotel”? That just means it met minimum requirements, basic safety, sanitation, and feasibility. Approval isn’t immunity from criticism. The public isn’t challenging CAF’s authority. We’re challenging your accountability.

So @MosesMagogo, next time you defend mediocrity, don’t dress it up as innovation. The issue isn’t who approved it, it’s who’s willing to accept it. And Uganda deserves better than a hotel built on excuses.

A keen Uganda also observes-As we speak…we are also developing the outdoor arena…there’s a pitch…being developed.” Developing/being developed🤔 A pitch nearby is essential, so where does the team train – in the car park? Lugogo? This is Chogm 2007 mess revisited. As we speak, who owns the hotel?

This Ugandan goes to the swimming pool: Is it still under construction or it’s a water logged place? Check the middle ground next to the pool!
