7 Rival Scouts Leaders Charged At Court Over Illegal Occupation, Destruction of Property

The State House Anti-Corruption Unit has arraigned seven leaders of a rival Scouts Group before court for allegedly illegally occupying land belonging to Uganda Scouts Association and destruction of property there in.

 

The seven identified as Buragahare Mujuni Patrick, Butumbwire Stephen, Mugisha John, Musoke Stephen Brian, Mununuzi Alex, Orwanga Michael Richard and Anyango Francis appeared before the Makindye Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 21st August, 2025.

 

They were charged with Unlawful Occupation of Land Belonging to Another, Malicious Damage to Property, Conspiracy to Commit a Felony, Forcible Detainer and Forcible Entry.

According to the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, the accused, operating under a faction calling itself the Boys Scouts Association, together with others still at large, are alleged to have violently taken over the National Camping and Scouts Centre at Kaazi–Busaabala, Masajja Division, Makindye Ssabagabo Municipality on 24th June 2025.

 

They reportedly mobilised a large group of people to forcibly enter the premises, broke into the offices of the Uganda Scouts Association, and caused extensive destruction. This included grading the land and cutting down historic trees, demolishing structures such as kitchens, latrines, a watchtower, water tanks, and pipes, as well as confiscating property belonging to the Uganda Scouts Association.
