The Chief Magistrate’s Court in Isingiro has convicted Ayebare Isma, former Chairperson of Rwakakoore “A” PDM SACCO in Rwanjogyera Sub County, Isingiro District.
Ayebare was sentenced to a fine of Shs1M, and further ordered to compensate the victims he extorted today, Wednesday, 27th August, 2025. Court ruled that should Ayebare fail to compensate the victims or pay the fine, he will serve three years in prison.
During his tenure as Chairperson, Ayebare fraudulently obtained money from hundreds of peasants by falsely claiming that payment of money to him was a requirement for them to benefit from the Parish Development Model (PDM) program.
He was arrested and charged on 31st July 2024 by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit and police in Isingiro.
