A 38-year-old Kenyan national, Calvin Muwanguzi, has narrowly escaped being lynched by angry locals in Bubutu Town Council, Namisindwa district, after being caught with a stolen motorcycle.
According to an eyewitness, George Walubengo, the motorcycle in question, a Bajaji with registration number UGC 300F, belongs to Herbert Kanyanya, a resident of Sikhendu Cell, Bumandali Ward, Bubutu Town Council.
He says the motorcycle was stolen last month while Kanyanya was watching a Premier League match in Lwakhakha Town Council located at Uganda-Kenyan border.
Walubengo added that Muwanguzi was tracked down to the Kenya neighborhood, where he had been hiding with the stolen motorcycle.
On Wednesday, 10th September, 2025, locals spotted Muwanguzi parking the motorcycle at the Boda Boda stage in Bubutu Town Council. When questioned about the motorcycle’s origin, Muwanguzi failed to provide a satisfactory answer.
Michael Wamukota, the chairperson of the Bubutu Town Council Boda Boda stage, intervened when fellow boda boda riders, armed with sticks, bricks, and stones, attempted to lynch Muwanguzi.
Wamukota saved Muwanguzi’s life by taking him to Bubutu Police Post.
