Residents of Mukoto Sub-county in Namisindwa District have expressed relief after the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) removed its contested site from Maalo Parish on 16th September, 2025, where it had stood for more than 10 years.

Masika David Nasimolo, one of the affected residents, said the community has suffered for years under UWA with unresolved court cases. He thanked the Namisindwa LCV NRM flagbearer for always standing with the people and pushing for a solution. Masika further urged the government to prioritize the settlement of boundary disputes.

Another resident, Nasimolo Patrick from Bunsmulunyi, appreciated Bwayo Emma for consistently listening to the community and following up on court proceedings whenever residents were attacked. He noted that Emma has raised the matter before the President, which has given the people hope for lasting justice.

Namulunyi Patrick narrated how UWA officials have repeatedly harassed residents and their families, accusing them of crimes such as rape and assault. He emphasized that the President had already affirmed the validity of the 2010 boundary marks and insisted they must be respected.

In his response, Bwayo Emma, the NRM LCV Flagbearer for Namisindwa, said government is committed to protecting people and their property. He stressed the need for residents living near the National Park to meet the President and share their grievances directly. He also called for peaceful co-existence between the Park and surrounding communities.
