The Electoral Commission Chairperson, Justice Simon Byabakama, has announced a change in the start date for the presidential campaigns, moving it forward from October 4 to September 29, 2025.
He made the announcement today, Friday, 19th September, 2025 during the official opening of the new Electoral Commission headquarters located along Lweza–Entebbe Road, where presidential candidates will be nominated next week, on September 23-24.
The EC Boss defended their decision saying, it would be unfair to keep a fired-up candidate at home for two weeks having been nominated on either 23rd or 24th September.
He also says, the bringing forward of the commencement campaigns date for Presidential candidates will give them more time to traverse the country.
