BULAMBULI

Parents of Mabugo Government-Aided School in Bulambuli district have this Friday afternoon, 19th September, 2025 taken drastic action against a P.7 class teacher, Milton Gibutui, for not teaching their children.

Gibutui is one of the teachers participating in the countrywide strike called by UNATU and has not been teaching since Monday 15th September.

The strike is in response to the government’s failure to fulfill its promise of salary increments.

Gibutui, a resident of Mayuba village, was attacked and beaten at his home by parents of Mabugo Government-Aided School where he teaches.

According to an anonymous parent, the attack was prompted by the parents’ frustration over the lack of teaching in schools especially for the candidates who barely have one month to sit for their PLE Exams. Since Monday, children have not been studying, and parents feel this will negatively impact their performance, particularly in the Primary Leaving Examination (PLE).

The parents believe the teachers’ strike is unfair to the children, who are innocent in the dispute between teachers and the government.

He says Children are not receiving adequate instruction, leading to concerns about their performance in national exams.

Getting a comment from Stephen Edema, the Bulambuli Chief Administrative Officer was futile by press time because all his known phone numbers were off.

The teachers’ strike is a nationwide action, with educators demanding better pay and working conditions. In Bulambuli district, the strike has disrupted learning, causing concerns among parents and students.
