The Electoral Commission concluded the nomination exercise of Presidential candidates for the 2026 general elections on Wednesday, 24th September, 2025 with only eight successfully making it to the ballot.

These are the incumbent, President Yoweri Tibuhaburwa Kaguta Museveni of NRM, Kasibante Robert (National Peasants Party-NPP), Mabirizi Joseph of Conservative Party (CP), Nandala Mafabi James Nathan of Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) and Mugisha Gregory Muntu Oyera of Alliance for National Transformation (ANT).

Others are; Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert of National Unity Platform (NUP), Munyangwa Mubarak Sserunga of Common Mans Party (CMP) and Bulira Frank Kabinga of Revolutionary People’s Party (RPP).
The nomination process saw all Independent Aspirants failing to meet the requirements that included 98,000 supporter signatures from 98 districts, minimum A’ Level qualifications, and Shs20M non-refundable fee.
